We’d get to see an all new kind of location, the kind we’ve never seen before in The Elder Scrolls, with a new flavour of lore, culture, backstories, architecture, environments and everything else that comes along with a new setting.
THE ELDER SCROLLS GAMES AKAVIR SERIES
It would be a first for the series in several ways- Akavir lies to the far east of the planet, and if the game were indeed to head there, it would be the first time that a game wouldn’t be set on the continent of Tamriel.īut that’s exactly what makes it such an exciting proposition. And we feel like Akavir would be the ideal destination to head to in the next game of the series. The planet of Nirn, where The Elder Scrolls series takes place, is a big place though, and we haven’t visited even a fraction of all the beautiful and wondrous locations it has to offer. Which is why we’re so excited to see where we’ll be going in The Elder Scrolls 6, even though it’s going to be a while yet before we finally play the game ( or even hear about it, apparently). Bethesda are capable of consistently building some of the best fantasy settings in video games, rich with lore and subtext and personality. In the late Eighth Era, Tamriel continues to be faced with neverending invasions from the beastfolk of Akavir, according to the Order of Wonder. We all love Skyrim, and Cyrodiil, and Morrowind, and all the other excellent places we’ve been to over the course of several The Elder Scrolls games. As of 7E 99, The Nerevarine claimed the continent had entered somewhat of a dark age, the one superpower which ruled the continent had fractured into dozens of warring nations and factions. With Tosh Raka's death, the continent of Akavir was plunged into civil war. He was defeated and slaughtered by the dragonborn Cagnagon Rjudgan.

Tosh Raka's second attempt occured in 6E 634, in which he wreaked havoc in Black Marsh, Morrowind, Cyrodiil and Skyrim. After the invasion's success, a mass migration of Ka Po' Tun to Elsweyr began. Although Tosh Raka had nothing to do with Mehrunes Dagon, he aided them in hope of gaining land in Tamriel. Tosh Raka made two attempts at invading Tamriel: First in the end of the Fifth Era, to help the New Mythic Dawn overthrow the status quo. The Ka Po' Tun succeeded and annexed all of Akavir, and prepared for his next conquests. The Po' Tun, Dogmen and Tang Mo fought for Tosh Raka's empire while the Tsaesci, Snow Demons and Ratmen fought for the Tsaesci status quo. The final war, known as the Calamitous War, saw a level of destruction comparable to the Great Wars in Tamriel.

Several wars took place between the two powers throughout the Third, Fourth and Fifth Eras. The Tsaesci were unquestioned as the primary economic and millitary power in the continent until the late Third Era, where Tosh Raka who had become a literal dragon took control of the Empire of Po' Tun, transforming it into the Ka Po' Tun. According to himself, he had civilised the Snow Demons of Kamal and brought them into the Tsaesci empire. He was embraced in Tsaesci culture as a hero from a far off land. In the late Third Era, the Nerevarine embarked on an expedition to Akavir. Men also arrived in Akavir in ancient times, but their attempts at founding nations were thwarted and were subjugated by the other races until they went extinct.Īround the Second Era, the Tsaesci rose to become the rulers of Akavir and held the other races as tributary states. It is said by Ka Po' Tun sources that the six races of Akavir, the Tsaesci, Tang Mo, Kamal, Ka Po' Tun, the Dogmen and Ratmen originated from a single race known as the "Siezhenato", meaining First Folk in their own tongue, Ancient Akaviri. Most of the information known about it comes from the Nerevarine, who returned from Akavir in 7E 99. Much of what is known about it in Tamriel is acknowledged to be incomplete or inaccurate. The two continents have a history of animosity towards each other, with Akavir invading Tamriel several times in the past and Tamriel invading Akavir at least once. Akavir, also known as Dragon Land, is a continental landmass east of Tamriel.
